Rules (Edge Matching + Threat Response)

1) Goal

• Place blocks to complete horizontal lines and increase your score.
• A Threat appears periodically. Within the time limit, defend using the recommended policy category.

2) Edge-Matching Rule (Core)

• Each block cell has 4 edges (top/right/bottom/left) shown with emojis.
• When a block locks, any touching edges must have the same emoji.
• If any edge mismatches on lock, you get +1 strike (policy mismatch).
• Game over when strikes reach 3.
• Strikes discourage risky play that ignores consistency just to chase score.

3) Threat Response

• When a threat appears, a target zone is shown on the board.
• Within the time limit, defend the target using blocks of the recommended policy category color.
• Defense is judged by whether the block’s top edge touches the target’s top boundary line.
• Success grants score/energy bonuses; failure applies a score penalty.

4) Controls

• Keyboard: ←/→ move, R rotate, ↓ soft drop, Space hard drop, P pause
• Mobile: Use the buttons below for the same actions

5) Power-ups

• Shield (8s): Stops the threat timer.
• Time freeze (5s): Stops block falling.
• Line blast: Clears the bottom two lines.
